Meet Dr. Tibb
Dr. Amit Tibb is a front-line Clinician, Researcher and Educator. After having spent over 15 years in academia and private practice, Dr. Tibb started NJ Lung Health to provide comprehensive lung care and an Institute for Breathing Disorders in Northern New Jersey.
​
After completing his residency in internal medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Jacobi Medical Center, Dr. Tibb went on to complete fellowship training at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, N.Y. He is now board certified in pulmonary medicine, critical care, neurocritical care, palliative care/hospice medicine and internal medicine. Dr. Tibb is also trained in clinical quality and patient safety, as well as healthcare simulation.

Dr. Tibb has previously worked at Valley Medical Group in Ridgewood, NJ as well as at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Jacobi Medical Center in Bronx, NY, where he served as Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit and an Assistant Professor and Attending Physician in the hospital's pulmonary critical care and hospice/palliative care medicine departments. Dr. Tibb retains his title of Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

In addition to his role at Valley Medical Group, Dr. Tibb served as The Valley Hospital's Director of Palliative Medicine from 2014-2017 where he built an excellent team of Palliative Care providers providing empathetic care 24/7 to patients throughout the system.

Dr. Tibb has been one of Bergen County’s top doctors as published in the Bergen Magazine and remains a standing Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr. Tibb has written several papers and case reports over the years, mentored many medical students, residents and fellows over the years who have now gone to establish themselves in leadership positions and start their own practices. He has conducted several clinical trials and with the unfortunate COVID-19 pandemic he has been at the helm of cutting edge research as Principal Investigator of many randomized and outcomes based studies looking at both ambulator and inpatients diagnosed with COVID-19.

A three-time consecutive recipient of the Faculty Teaching Award from Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Tibb holds several distinctions and awards for quality improvement, patient safety, teaching excellence and research. In 2012-2013, he received the GAGE award from America's Essential Hospitals for palliative care integration in the intensive care unit. In 2013-14, Dr. Tibb received a consecutive GAGE award for CAUTI reduction.

Dr. Tibb served as faculty for the American College of Chest Physicians from 2009-2017, where he taught critical care ultrasound to hundreds of intensivists. In addition, his work has been published in many peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences and workshops.
